Polar Science Webcast #3 - Visit the Kanatous Lab

Posted Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 15:40 EST by Diane

Please join us for our next Polar Science webcast, where we will be treated to a behind the scene look at the Kanatous Lab at the University of Colorado in Fort Collins, Colorado. Dr. Kanatous will be joined by grad students who work in his lab to answer your questions about what they do with the seal samples that were taken during the field seasons in Antarctica, and what they're learning from them.

Date: Wed. Nov 18, 2009.

Time(s): 8:30 - 9:30 PST / 9:30-10:30 MST / 11:30 - 12:30 EDT or 10:45 - 11:45 PST / 11:45-12:45 MST / 1:45 - 2:45 EDT

This webcast will test your ability to "think on your feet"! We are not asking you to complete an in-class activity this time. Nor are we asking for your questions ahead of time. We feel it will be much easier to come up with relevant questions once you've actually seen what goes on in the lab.

In preparation we are asking you to:

  1. Send an e-mail to support@yesican-science.ca telling us which time suits you better.
  2. Choose one student who will introduce your class.
  3. Choose several students with good keyboarding skills, who will type the questions your class comes up with into the chat window during the webcast.
  4. Choose several students who will come to the mic and ask those questions when we call on your class.
  5. Choose a couple of students who will answer the questions Dr. Kanatous may pose during the webcast.

This promises to be a really fun experience. Register your class ASAP!
